1. General Information Only
Twin Leaf, a product of Angel Gate Solutions, LLC, organizes the transactions you import or enter and calculates estimates to help you budget. All figures, charts, plans, alerts, messages, and other output of Twin Leaf ("Estimates") are for general informational and educational purposes only. This Financial Disclaimer forms part of our Terms of Service.
2. Not Financial Advice; No Fiduciary Relationship
Nothing in Twin Leaf is a recommendation, solicitation, or offer to buy, sell, borrow, lend, pay, invest, save, or take any other financial action, or a statement that any action is suitable for you. Twin Leaf does not know your full financial situation, goals, obligations, or risk tolerance. Angel Gate Solutions is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, financial planner, accountant, tax preparer, attorney, or credit counselor, and no fiduciary, advisory, or professional relationship is created by your use of Twin Leaf.
3. What the Numbers Mean — and Where They Can Be Wrong
3.1 Safe to Spend
"Safe to spend" is an estimate of money that may remain until your next expected paycheck after setting aside the bills, card payments, savings, and other amounts Twin Leaf knows about. It is not a balance, a credit line, or a promise that a purchase will clear. It can be wrong if your data is incomplete or out of date, if a paycheck is late, smaller, or larger than expected, if a bill is missed or changes, or if pending transactions, holds, fees, interest, or transfers are not reflected.
3.2 Paydays, Bills & Recurring Charges
Twin Leaf detects paychecks and recurring charges from patterns in your transactions. Detection can miss items, mistake one-time charges for recurring ones, or predict the wrong date or amount. You can confirm, correct, or dismiss what it finds; please do.
3.3 Pay Statements & Per-Job Pay Answers
Twin Leaf checks the numbers on a pay statement only against each other, such as whether the deductions add up to the net pay. It does not confirm them with your employer, your bank, or a tax authority, and a passing check does not mean the statement is correct.
Twin Leaf counts a holiday in your forecast only if you have said the job pays holidays, and counts a holiday you take off only if you have said the job pays for that. Until you answer, those holidays are not counted. Twin Leaf stops counting overtime only when every job is marked as not paying overtime; it does not yet apply that answer job by job.
The split of each paycheck between your accounts is estimated from the deposits on your recent pay statements. If your statements or your linked accounts change, the split can be out of date until the next statement.
3.4 Balances & Card Terms
Statements generally do not include balances, so account balances in Twin Leaf are what you set, adjusted by the transactions it knows about. Where you have not set one, Twin Leaf estimates it from your transactions: for a credit card, from the interest charged each month and how the balance moved; for checking or savings, the least the account can have held ("at least"). It also estimates a card's interest rate (APR) and minimum payment, and a loan's balance and remaining term, from the payments it sees. These estimates are labelled as such, may be wrong, and may differ from your lender's or bank's records. Check them against your statements, and correct any of them; a number you enter always replaces the estimate.
3.5 Calendars, Cash Flow & Net Worth
Forecasts and reports summarize your data as Twin Leaf understands it. Categorization is automatic and may be inaccurate. Net worth reflects only the accounts and values you have entered.
3.6 Alerts & Reminders
Alerts and due-date reminders are a convenience. They appear only when you open Twin Leaf, may be late, missing, or wrong, and are not a substitute for your bank's or card issuer's notifications or for autopay arrangements you set with them.
3.7 Charges & Balances From Email
If you use the optional email connection, Twin Leaf suggests charges, deposits and balances from emails your bank, card issuer, merchants and payment apps sent you. An email can be forged, late, repeated or about another account, and Twin Leaf can misread it. A suggested charge can be a duplicate of one you already have, or can be matched to the wrong account; a charge that is really two can be treated as one. When it compares a balance stated in an email with the balance worked out from your files, a difference can mean a charge is missing, a charge is counted twice, the two figures were taken at different times of day, or an email was wrong. It is a clue, not a finding, and a match is not proof that your records are right. Nothing is added until you accept it, and your bank's own records always control.
Do not use email-derived figures, duplicate detection or balance comparisons for taxes, credit or loan applications, legal or accounting purposes, or to dispute a charge.
4. Debt Payoff Plans & Credit
Debt payoff plans, payoff orders, interest projections, promotional-rate reminders, and similar features are mathematical illustrations based on the balances, rates, minimum payments, and dates you enter or that Twin Leaf estimates from your transactions (Section 3.3). They are not credit counseling, debt management, debt settlement, or credit repair services, and Twin Leaf does not negotiate with creditors, change your terms, or affect your credit report or score. Actual interest, fees, and minimums are set by your lender. Contact your lender, or a nonprofit credit counselor approved by the U.S. Department of Justice, for help with debt.
4A. Automatic Budgets & Suggestions
"Auto-set budget" and the plan in the guided start propose budgets from your past spending. They suggest cuts that are deeper for discretionary spending (for example fast food, delivery, or entertainment) than for essentials, list subscriptions you might cancel, and may group spending into new categories with rules. Nothing is changed until you choose to apply it, and you can undo or edit any budget afterwards. Grocery floors and other limits are rough general figures, not a measure of what you or your household need. A suggestion to cut or cancel something is an idea for you to weigh, not advice that it is right for you. Where spending looks like gambling, Twin Leaf may set that budget to zero and show a private note with a free helpline; this is not counseling, diagnosis, or treatment. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 in the United States.
5. Investments
Investment holdings, values, or performance shown in Twin Leaf reflect only what you enter and are for tracking. Twin Leaf does not provide investment advice, research, ratings, or recommendations, and nothing in it is an offer or solicitation regarding any security. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
6. Taxes & Legal Matters
Twin Leaf does not provide tax or legal advice. Categories, paycheck figures, and summaries are not tax records and may not match how income or expenses must be reported. Consult a qualified tax professional or attorney about your situation.
7. Not a Bank; No Money Movement
Twin Leaf does not hold, transfer, pay, or invest money, and cannot pay a bill or move funds on your behalf. Nothing in Twin Leaf is a deposit or account at any financial institution, and nothing is insured by the FDIC, NCUA, or SIPC. Suggestions to move money (for example, a coach message proposing a transfer) are prompts for you to consider and act on yourself through your own bank, if you choose.
8. Accuracy Depends on Your Data
Twin Leaf knows only what you import or enter. Statement and export formats vary and change; an import may skip, duplicate, or misread transactions, and so may the optional email connection and its duplicate detection. Because your data is encrypted on your device and we do not see it, we cannot review or correct it for you. You are responsible for reviewing your data and Estimates for accuracy.
9. AI-Generated Content
Twin Leaf's built-in coach is calculated by fixed rules on your device. The optional Coach Plus chat, if you use it, generates answers automatically with a third-party AI model, which may be inaccurate or incomplete; those answers are Estimates subject to this Disclaimer and are not investment, tax, legal, or debt-settlement advice. A coach voice such as Roast is entertainment about your spending choices, not a judgment of you. Verify anything important independently before acting on it.
10. Coach Messages, Missions & Educational Content
The coach, missions, tips, and other educational content offer general budgeting ideas. They are not tailored advice, and following them does not guarantee any outcome, such as avoiding an overdraft, paying off a debt by a date, or reaching a savings goal.
11. Third-Party Names
References to banks, card issuers, apps, and other third parties identify compatible file formats or services only and do not imply endorsement, sponsorship, or affiliation.
12. Your Responsibility
You are responsible for your financial decisions and their consequences, including any overdraft, late fee, interest, penalty, returned payment, or effect on your credit. Before relying on any Estimate, confirm balances, amounts, and due dates with the relevant institution, and seek advice from a qualified professional where appropriate.
13. Liability
The disclaimers of warranties and limitations of liability in Sections 19 and 20 of our Terms of Service apply to Estimates, including the exceptions stated there for liability that the law does not allow us to limit.
